Dayasiri says he is still part of the SLFP

Former Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera says he is still very much part of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP).

Jayasekera told reporters today that he had not joined the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) although he left the Government.

He says a group of 16 SLFP Ministers left the Government as they had some issues with the Government.

However he says the idea was to note the mistakes being made by the Government while sitting with the opposition.

Jayasekera said that he is still a member of the SLFP and has no plans of leaving the SLFP at this moment. (Colombo Gazette)

Businessman shot dead in Elpitiya

A businessman was shot dead in Elpitiya today, the Police said. The Police said that the 42-year-old businessman was shot at by unidentified gunmen. He was later pronounced dead in hospital.
