Army officer arrested over Eknaligoda’s disappearance remanded

An Army intelligence officer who was arrested over the disappearance of journalist Prageeth Eknaligoda has been ordered to be remanded till September 28th.

Lieutenant Colonel Erantha Peiris was arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) yesterday.

Eknaligoda, a cartoonist, political analyst and journalist, was reported missing on January 24, 2010 – two days before the Presidential polls.

In 2015 the CID questioned four soldiers over the disappearance of journalist Prageeth Eknaligoda and later arrested them.

All four were released on bail in 2016. (Colombo Gazette)
