After urgent cabinet meeting President to now meet media heads

President Maithripala Sirisena, who earlier today held an urgent cabinet meeting, has now called for a meeting with media heads tomorrow.

The meeting is to take place tomorrow morning at the President’s House in Fort.

Invitations send out by the President’s office have called on Heads of Media, Newspaper Editors and Directors of Electronic Media Institutions to attend the meeting.

Today, the President had an urgent meeting with the cabinet where it was reported that he had sought support against action being taken on top military officers.

It was reported that the President has specifically spoken against moves by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to question Chief of Defence Staff Ravi Wijegunaratne on his alleged involvement in the abduction and disappearance of 11 youth.

The President is already preparing to seek UN support to clear the military from human rights allegations related to the war. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. President Sirisena needs to initiate the serious court cases against Rajitha Senaratne and Ranjan Ramanayake. Without cleaning these corruption within the current government, there is no point doing media circus. People will reject you in all kind of elections.
