Democratic People’s Congress sacks Nalliya Kumaragurubaran

The Democratic People’s Congress says it has removed?Nalliya Kumaragurubaran from the party.

In a statement, the leader of the?Democratic People’s Congress, Praba Ganesan said that?Kumaragurubaran had been removed from his post of party General Secretary.

Kumaragurubaran has also been removed from the party as he had failed to promote the party and had instead established contacts with other political parties. (Colombo Gazette)

Mangala in intensive care after contracting Covid

Former Minister Mangala Samaraweera is in intensive care after contracting the coronavirus. Samaraweera had contacted the virus despite being fully vaccinated. A spokesperson for the former Foreign Minister said that Samaraweera is suffering from Covid pneumonia and related complications and is receiving medical attention under intensive care. Quarantine curfew, regulations to be strictly enforced

The quarantine curfew and all other regulations will be strictly enforced, the Police said today. Police Spokesman, Senior Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ajith Rohana said that only essential services will be permitted to operate during the overnight curfew. He also said that the coronavirus regulations will also be strictly enforced around the country. A quarantine curfew has been declared from 10pm to 4am daily with effect from today.
