Court refuses to give order against joint opposition protest

A request by the Police for a court order against the protest by the joint opposition scheduled for tomorrow was rejected today.

The Cinnamon Gardens Police, the Welikada Police and Kollupitiya Police had sought court orders against the joint opposition protest but all the requests were rejected. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. Police should have not gone to Courts. IGP should give clear instructions to subordinates. People have right to protest, but without harming ordinary life. Police have nothing to do with political strategy, they should have strategy for avoiding chaos.
