The Office on Missing Persons (OMP) will submit its interim report to President Maithripala Sirisena on September 5th.
OMP Chairman Saliya Pieris said that the interim report contains a number of urgent recommendations relating to interim relief and justice.
He expressed these views at an event held today to mark the International Day of the Disappeared.
Over the past five months the OMP travelled to the North, South and East and met with families of the missing.
Also speaking here, the Chairperson of the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka, Deepika Udugama said that there are serious administrative challenges to the operationalisation of the commission.
However she asserted that there was no political interference in the functions of the commission. (Colombo Gazette)
