Japan names Sugiyama as new Ambassador to Sri Lanka

The Japanese Government decided at a cabinet meeting on Tuesday on the appointments of new ambassadors to Sri Lanka, Cameroon, the Marshall Islands and Ethiopia, effective Thursday, Jiji Press reported.

Akira Sugiyama, 57, will be Ambassador to Sri Lanka. He has served as minister at the permanent mission to the United Nations in New York, as well as head of the Yamagata prefectural police and chief of protocol at the Foreign Ministry. (Colombo Gazette)
