Canada notes death penalty will do little to help Sri Lanka’s image

Canada is deeply concerned by reports that Sri Lanka is considering a reversal of its long-standing moratorium on the death penalty. The European Union today urged Sri Lanka to uphold the country?s international commitments. The EU noted that Sri Lanka is actively moving towards resuming executions, which would bring an end to its 43-year moratorium on the death penalty.
