Most wanted criminal ‘Navy Sampath’ arrested by the CID

A most wanted criminal?identified as ‘Navy Sampath’ has been arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

Chandana Hettiaracchi, who was better known as ‘Navy Sampath’, was wanted over the abduction of 11 youth in Colombo in 2008.

A warrant had been issued earlier by the Colombo Fort Magistrate?s Court for the arrest of?Navy Sampath.

Court approval was obtained today to detain?Navy Sampath till tomorrow to be questioned.

Navy Sampath was being?investigated over the abduction and disappearance of 11 youth and other crimes and several Navy personnel, including former Navy Spokesman D.K.P. Dassanayake had been arrested earlier in this connection. (Colombo Gazette)
