Sajith and Wimal offer to resign over allegations

Joint opposition Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa today told Parliament, he will resign from his MP post if allegations raised by Minister Sajith Premadasa in Parliament today are proven.

Minister Sajith Premadasa said that he will resign from his Ministry post if the allegations are not true.

Premadasa had alleged that?Weerawansa had given Government houses to his relatives when he was the Minister of Housing.

Premadasa read out a list of the names of Weerawansa’s relatives who had been given houses when Mahinda Rajapaksa was President.

Weerawansa then raised a point-of-order and said that he will resign from his Parliament seat if the allegations are proven.

Premadasa then got into a heated exchange with Speaker Karu Jayasuriya for allowing Weerawansa to speak.

The Minister later said that he will resign from his Ministry post if the allegations against Weerawansa are not true.
