Ranjan pleads not guilty in contempt of court case

Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake pleaded not guilty today in the contempt of court case filed against him.

Ramanayake was accused of insulting the reputation of the judiciary and lawyers at a press conference.

The Attorney General had earlier submitted a draft rule document to the Supreme Court related to the contempt of court allegations against Ramanayake.

Following this, the case was heard today where Ramanayake pleaded not guilty.

The case is to be heard again on September 5th. (Colombo Gazette)
