Range Bandara says UNP reforms process is underway

United National Party (UNP) member and State Minister Palitha Range Bandara says the UNP reforms process is underway.

The State Minister told a public gathering today that most of the reforms proposals submitted to the party have been implemented.

Bandara, who has been pushing for change in the UNP, said that he is satisfied with the changes taking place so far.

He said that a lot remains to be done but the changes seen so far was the result of the efforts taken by some to push for reforms in the UNP. (Colombo Gazette)

Army defends screening process by HRCSL

The Sri Lanka Army today defended the screening process followed by the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) to select troops for UN peacekeeping missions. A statement by the Army said that the Army and the HRCSL maintain a highly cordial and professional relationship. Supreme Court rejects petition by Makandure Madush’s aunt

The Supreme Court today rejected a petition filed by the aunt of underworld leader Makandure Madush, seeking a restraining order preventing the police from arresting him. A. W. Sriyani, a younger sister of the mother of Makandure Madush had filed a Fundamental Rights petition in the Supreme Court.
