Key suspects arrested over murder of a man in Wanniyakulam

The key suspects have been arrested over the murder of a father in?Wanniyakulam in?Anuradhapura, the Police said.

The Police said that the main suspect and a few others had been arrested over the crime and are being questioned.

The main suspect was identified as 37-year-old Mampatidewahelage Chaminda Pushpakumara alias Pulleyar Chaminda.

Sujeewa Prasanna Kumara Hettiarachchi was hacked to death recently following an alleged incident where he had assaulted some men who had attempted to sexually abuse his daughter at a wedding.

The family of the victim said that?Sujeewa Prasanna had been killed as an act of revenge.

The wife and daughter of the victim had reported that they had received death threats following?Sujeewa Prasanna’s murder and they have now been given police protection.(Colombo Gazette)

Government says no threat to stability
