SLFP warring parties meet at Sirimavo’s birth anniversary event

The two sides at war in the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) had a rare face to face meeting at an event held to mark the birth anniversary of late Prime Minister Sirimavo Bandaranaike. Former President Maithripala Sirisena and newly appointed SLFP Vice President Nimal Siripala de Silva were among those who attended the event. Both sides greeted each other and also had tea together at the event. However, the two sides made indirect attacks at each other in the speeches they made at the event.

NASA includes Sri Lankan in crew for simulated Mars journey

NASA has selected a new crew of four volunteers, including a Sri Lankan, to participate in a simulated mission to Mars within a habitat at the agency?s Johnson Space Center?in Houston. Jason Lee, Stephanie Navarro, Shareef Al Romaithi, and Piyumi Wijesekara will step into the agency?s Human Exploration Research Analog, or?HERA, on Friday, May 10. Sri Lanka to continue talks with bondholders

Sri Lanka will continue discussions with bondholders with a view to reaching common ground ahead of the IMF board consideration of the second review of Sri Lanka?s EFF program, State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe said.
