Court issues order to probe killing of leopard in Kilinochchi

The Kilinochchi Magistrates’ Court has issued an order to probe the killing of a leopard in Kilinochchi and arrest those responsible.
Villagers in Kilinochchi yesterday captured and killed a leopard after it attacked 10 people in the area.
The villagers hunted down the animal after accusing wildlife officers of failing to do their duty.
Wildlife officers had arrived at Ambalkulam in Kilinochchi to capture the animal but they had failed to locate it resulting in agitated residents deciding to look for the animal themselves.
The hunt for the leopard was captured on video and visuals showed the?leopard being captured and brutally attacked and killed by the?residents.
The dead animal was later dragged along the streets and displayed to the public.?(Colombo Gazette)
