The Cabinet sub-committee appointed to present the final report on the 20th Amendment to the constitution, met today for deliberations. Minister S.B. Priority for reconciliation says President

President Maithripala Sirisena says his Government will give priority for reconciliation, six years following the end of the war. Speaking at the war heroes commemorative event in Matara today, the President said that following the end of the war a lot was done to rebuild damaged infrastructure but not damaged hearts and lives of the people. Parliament adjourned following tense situation

Parliament proceedings were adjourned till tomorrow following a tense situation which arose over the Central Bank Governor. When sittings commenced today the opposition put forward a no-confidence motion on Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran and demanded that he be removed from his post. A heated debate later took place between the Government and the opposition and Deputy Speaker Chandima Weerakody then suspended sittings for 10 minutes.
