President defends decision to relax curfew

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa today defended the decision to relax the curfew in the country, especially in the Western Province. He said that continuing with the curfew further will have a serious impact on the local economy. The President expressed these views in a discussion aired via his Facebook page with former President’s Secretary Lalith Weeratunga. Concerns had been raised over the President’s decision to relax the curfew in some parts of the country this week and in Colombo next week

Number of coronavirus patients detected in Sri Lanka crosses 300

UPDATE: The number of coronavirus patients detected in Sri Lanka crossed the 300 mark today. The Ministry of Health said that nine more patients were confirmed this evening to have contracted the virus taking the total to 304. Of the nine new patients, eight were identified as persons who were placed in quarantine in the Bandaranayakepura area in Colombo 12. The ninth person is said to be a fish vendor from Piliyandala. Seychelles, Sri Lanka to discuss illegal fishing after third vessel is intercepted
