Euro 4 to replace Super Diesel and 95 Octane petrol

The Government is to introduce?Euro 4 fuel to the market and replace Super Diesel and 95 Octane petrol.

Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera had announced last year that from this year Sri Lanka will follow the environmentally-friendly Euro 4 emissions standard as adopted by European nations.

The Euro emission standards seek to limit the vehicle?s toxic gas in hopes to attain a cleaner, breathable air. The 1st Euro level (Euro 1) was introduced in 1992 as an initiative by the EU to regulate and standardize the amount of carbon monoxide (CO) and other poisonous chemicals being emitted by motor vehicles. Military placed on standby to maintain law and order

The military continues to be placed on standby, through a gazette notice, to maintain law and order.? President Ranil Wickremesinghe, by virtue of the powers vested in him by Section 12 of the Public Security Ordinance (Chapter 40), deployed the military to maintain law and order in all parts of the country.
