The CID said that Mahendran’s credit card bills upto Rs. 3.2 million had been paid for using funds received from Perpetual Treasuries Limited.
The revelation was made in connection to the ongoing investigations over the Central Bank treasury bond scam.
Mahendran was the Central Bank Governor when the scam took place.
Meanwhile, the Attorney General’s Department said that a State Minister had received two cheques worth Rs. 2 million from W.M. Mendis & Co. Ltd.
W.M. Mendis & Co. Ltd is owned by Perpetual Treasuries Limited owner Arjun Aloysius.
Meanwhile, Perpetual Treasuries Limited owner Arjun Aloysius and Chief Executive Officer Kasun Palisena were further remanded over the treasury bond scam.
The Colombo Fort Magistrate today ordered that Arjun Aloysius and Kasun Palisena be further remanded till June 21. (Colombo Gazette)
