Navy detains six Indians, including two children on a trawler

The Sri Lanka Navy says it detained six Indians, including two children who were on a trawler which entered Sri Lankan waters illegally.

The Navy detained the Indians when they entered Sri Lankan waters yesterday (May 30). The Indians were detained by the North Central Naval Command in the seas off Urumalai in Thalaimannar.

The Indians consisted of three men, a woman and two children. The Navy said that the Indians were given medical treatment after they were brought ashore.

They were later handed over to the Thalaimannar Police for further investigations. (Colombo Gazette)
