Turkey insists allegations by Gnanasara Thero baseless

Turkey today insisted that allegations made by the General Secretary of the Bodu Bala Sena (BBS), the venerable Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero, where he had accused Turkey of funding illegal activities in Sri Lanka, are false and baseless. Gnanasara Thero had alleged that funds from Turkey were flowing in to Sri Lanka through a special fund. IGP files FR case against his removal

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara has filed a Fundamental Rights (FR) petition in the Supreme Court against his removal. Jayasundara was sent on compulsory leave following the Easter Sunday attacks. In his petition before the Supreme Court the IGP has sought an order to cancel the decision to send him on compulsory leave.

Sri Lankan asylum seekers flown back from Australia

Twenty Sri Lankan asylum seekers were flown back to their home country after their boat was intercepted en route to Australia, the Australian media reported. The vessel, which was carrying at least one baby, was spotted last week in the Indian Ocean heading for the northwest coast, SBS quoted The Australian as reporting.
