Railway trade unions postpone strike by a few hours

Railway trade unions have decided to postpone a strike which was to be launched at midnight tonight by a few hours.

The unions had earlier said that they had talks with the authorities today over their demands but the discussions ended in failure.

As a result railway trade unions had decided to go on strike from midnight today resulting in train services being affected.

However later this evening the unions said that they had decided to postpone the strike till tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon.

The decision was taken as a committee was appointed to look into their demands. (Colombo Gazette)
