The European Union (EU) has maintained the LTTE as a banned terrorist organisation. The Council of the EU renewed the so-called EU terrorist list, which sets out persons, groups and entities subject to restrictive measures with a view to combating terrorism. Twelve Colombo University students granted bail

Twelve students arrested over an assault incident at the Colombo University have been granted bail. The 12 students were arrested last week and remanded till today. The students were involved in a heated exchange in the university canteen which led to one student being assaulted. A video of the incident which has gone viral on social media shows a boy being assaulted by a group of students. The student who was assaulted was later admitted to hospital. (Colombo Gazette)

Two cops arrested for accepting liquor as bribe

Two policemen have been arrested for accepting liquor as a bribe, the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption (CIABOC) said. The policemen attached to the Gampaha Police and another individual had accepted two liquor bottles as a bribe. According to a complaint made at CIABOC, the two policemen had sought the bribe after accusing a man of inappropriate behavior towards his female partner on the street.
