Suspect injured after being shot at dies

A suspect who was shot at by the Army in the Panadura area last night when he attempted to flee, succumbed to his injuries in hospital. A van reported stolen in Mattegoda was found in Panadura yesterday. When an attempt was made to arrest the suspect he had fled and the Army opened fire. The suspect was injured in the shooting incident and was admitted to hospital. Meanwhile, another suspect was arrested over the incident.

Sale of imported liquor without new sticker banned

The sale of imported liquor without the new foolproof sticker introduced by the Excise Department has been banned. The Excise Department says the possession, transportation, storing and sale of imported liquor is illegal unless the new sticker is affixed on containers of foreign liquor.
