Salons allowed to resume operations

The Ministry of Health has granted approval for beauty parlours and salons to resume limited operations. Minister of Health Pavithra Wanniarachchi had taken the decision following a discussion with health officials and members from the beauty industry on the obstacles and necessary measures to be taken to restart operations under health guidelines. Soldier reported dead in Dambulla after bystanders refuse to help him

A soldier died after collapsing at the Dambulla bus stand and bystanders refused to take him to hospital. The soldier had collapsed near the public toilet at the Dambulla bus stand and was on the ground for some 30 minutes. Bystanders had refused to take him to hospital and witnesses said that people who tried to help were also not allowed to by others. Ninth death from coronavirus reported in Sri Lanka

The ninth death from the coronavirus has been reported in Sri Lanka, the Ministry of Health said. The victim is a resident of Colombo and was receiving treatment at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (IDH) hospital in Angoda. The Ministry of Health said that the victim is a 52 year old woman, a resident of Colombo 15. Yesterday (Monday), a 72 year-old woman had died of the virus.
