Fertiliser subsidy for Yala harvest available from midnight tonight

The fertiliser subsidy for the Yala harvest will be made available from midnight tonight,?Agriculture Minister Duminda Dissanayake said.

He said that?fertiliser will be priced at Rs. 500 for 50kg of paddy and Rs. 1500 for other crops.

In February this year the Government had announced that farmers will receive cash for the full market value?of fertiliser to their bank accounts from the next cultivation season.

It was announced then that farmers cultivating? corn, soya and onions will receive?a free insurance cover of Rs 40,000 per acre from the next season. (Colombo Gazette)

Government insists no change in policy to abolish PTA

The Government insisted there is no change in its policy to abolish the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA).
