TNA to decide before end of this month

The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) is to decide on the stand it will take at the Presidential election before the end of this month. The TNA has yet to decide which candidate it will support at the Presidential election on 16 November. The TNA and four other Tamil political parties have already signed a 13-point memorandum to be submitted to the Presidential candidates. According to the TNA, it will meet with the four Tamil parties before taking a final decision with regards to the election.

Sri Lanka implemented only three recommendations by EU observers

Sri Lanka implemented only three out of 26 recommendations made by EU election observers after the 2015 Presidential election. The European Union Election Observer Mission (EU EOM) to Sri Lanka officially launched its observation work in Colombo today related to the 16 November Presidential election. Anura Kumara will not support withdrawal of military from North

National People’s Movement (NPM) Presidential candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake will not support calls to withdraw the military from the North. Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) Parliamentarian Vijitha Herath said that the military is tasked with ensuring national security.
