Suspect who surrendered over Diyawanna BMW accident remanded

The suspect who surrendered to the Police yesterday in connection to the Thalawathugoda accident involving a BMW sports car, was today ordered to be remanded till March 27.

The suspect, a relative of a United National Party (UNP) member and Minister, had fled the scene recently after his car plunged into the?Diyawanna Oya in?Thalawathugoda.

The car had crashed into two vehicles before going into the?Diyawanna Oya.

The driver then fled the scene but surrendered to the Police today and was arrested.?(Colombo Gazette)

Two associates of underworld kingpin arrested

Two close associates of underworld kingpin ” Welle Saranga ” were arrested for the possession of heroin in the Lelama area in Mutwal. The Police said 1.320 grams of heroin were seized from one suspect and 1.400 grams from the other last afternoon. The suspects, aged 29 and 40, are residents of Mutwal.
