Radical monks demand meeting with the President

A group of radical monks are demanding a meeting with President Maithripala Sirisena to discuss what they say are critical issues.

Sinhala Ravaya leader, the Venerable Akmeemana Dayaratne Thera said that a request had been made to meet the President yet there was no response to the request.

Akmeemana Dayaratne Thera said that the request was made through Government members.

However he says either the request has not been communicated to the President or has been disregarded.

The Venerable Akmeemana Dayaratne Thera said that several Buddhist organisations urgently want to meet the President to discuss some concerns following the recent incidents in Kandy. (Colombo Gazette)
