Woman gives birth to triplets in Kalmunai hospital

By Farook Sihan in Ampara A woman gave birth to triplets at the Kalmunai hospital, doctors at the hospital said. The triplets are all males and are said to be in good health. The mother is said to be a 28 year-old resident of Komari who had initially been admitted to a hospital in the area. Legal action filed against over 18,400 people

Legal action has been filed against over 18,400 people for violating the curfew since March, the Police said today. The Police media unit said that between 18 March and 6am today (Friday) the Police had arrested 18,496 individuals and imposed a fine on another 6991 individuals. Suspects arrested over Maligawatta stampede remanded

The suspects arrested over the Maligawatta stampede today, including a businessman, were ordered to be remanded till 4th June. The Police said that seven suspects were produced before a Magistrate who ordered that they be remanded. Three women died after sustaining injuries in a stampede in the Maligawatta area in Colombo this afternoon. Police Spokesman SP Jaliya Senaratne told the?Colombo Gazette?the stampede had reportedly occurred during a private aid donation event organized in the area.
