Mahinda visits Kandy, holds meeting with religious leaders

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa visited Kandy today and had talks with religious leaders in the area.

Leading Buddhist clergy in Kandy attended the meeting with the former President.

Rajapaksa said that the discussion was held in order to look at ways to ensure the peace is maintained in Kandy.

He said that he urged both the Sinhalese and Muslim communities to live peacefully with each other.

Rajapaksa also accused the Government of failing in its duties with regards to the situation which arose in Kandy. (Colombo Gazette)
