The UN said that Feltman will be in Sri Lanka from 9 to 11 March. He will meet with a wide range of Sri Lankan leaders — including the President, the Prime Minister and other senior officials — political parties and civil society groups.
The visit is part of ongoing UN engagement with Sri Lanka, Stéphane Dujarric, Spokesman for UN Secretary-General said.
He said the visit was planned before the island nation declared the state of emergency and is part of ongoing UN engagement with Sri Lanka.
This will be the Under-Secretary-General’s third visit to Sri Lanka. He visited the island nation in February 2017 and in 2015 to take stock of progress in the country and engage national stakeholders on the peacebuilding process. (Colombo Gazette)
