Closed after bond scam controversy The Sunday Leader resumes

The Sunday Leader newspaper, which was forced to close after being linked to the treasury bond scam, resumed printing today.

The newspaper had to close last November after several issues arose with funding.

Funding for The Sunday Leader was believed to have been sourced through former Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake and businessman Arjun Aloysius since 2015.

However with the bond scam?Arjun Aloysius stopped funding the newspaper and?Karunanayake was asked to withdraw his links to the newspaper by the current management.

With little or no funding,?The Sunday Leader closed last November while its website continued.

The newspaper has now been re-launched as a broadsheet with limited staff.

Perpetual Treasuries head?Arjun Aloysius is currently in remand over the bond scam.?(Colombo Gazette)
