Speaker not informed of extension of unity Government MOU

Speaker Karu Jayasuriya says he has?not been informed of an extension of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of the unity Government.
Responding to questions raised in Parliament today by the opposition, the Speaker said that he will seek a clarification from the Government with regards to the MoU of the unity Government.
The opposition that the Government has no right to function as a coalition as its two year term ended last year.
Joint opposition Parliamentarian Dullas Alahapperuma asked the Speaker if he was informed that the MoU had been extended.
The Speaker responded saying he had not been informed and will seek a clarification from the Government.
Leader of the House Lakshman Kiriella said that no party has withdrawn from the unity Government and so the Government will function as usual. (Colombo Gazette)
