Former LTTE member found dead near home

A former LTTE member who was rehabilitated and released into society, was found dead near his home in Mannar. Weerasingham Dhanapalasingham, aged 40, was working as a fishermen when he was found dead near his home on Saturday. The police said that his body was found hanging from a swing tied to a tree near a tent close to his house. A person who had gone to take him for fishing had found him dead. Initial investigations have found that the man may have committed suicide. (Colombo Gazette)

India sends back 34 Sri Lankan fishermen

The Indian Coast Guard repatriated 34 Sri Lankan fishermen who were in custody for alleged violation of the International maritime boundary line. Train rams into car in Jaffna, 1 killed, 3 injured

A train crashed into a car at an unprotected railway crossing in Jaffna this afternoon killing one person and injuring three others. Reporters in Jaffna said that the car had attempted to cross the?unprotected railway crossing?when the train heading to Jaffna from Colombo crashed into the vehicle. One person in the car was killed at the location while the other three were admitted to hospital for treatment. (Colombo Gazette)
