Another group of refugees to return from Tamil Nadu

Another 25 Tamil refugees in Tamil Nadu, India are to arrive in Sri Lanka under the UNHCR facilitated voluntary repatriation programme. They are scheduled to arrive on Tuesday from Madurai, the Ministry of Prison Reforms, Rehabilitation, Resettlement and Hindu Religious Affairs said. Two police intelligence officers come under sword attack

Two police intelligence officers came under a sword attack in Chunnakam today, the police said. The two officers were attacked by men on a motorcycle this afternoon. The attack took place just days after two Jaffna university students were shot dead by the police. The police had said earlier they were looking for members of a sword gang operating in Jaffna at the time the shooting incident involving the two Jaffna students took place. (Colombo Gazette)
