Retired Senior DIG arrested over Lasantha murder probe

A retired senior Deputy Inspector General of Police has been arrested in connection to the ongoing investigations over the murder of journalist Lasantha Wickrematunge.

Retired Senior DIG Prasanna Nanayakkara was arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for allegedly concealing evidence related to the murder.

Nanayakkara was attached to the Western Province (South) Police division at the time the former Editor of The Sunday Leader was killed.

Wickrematunge was killed in?Attidiya in 2009 when he was on his way to office.

The former acting crimes Officer in Charge (OIC) of the Mount Lavinia Police was also arrested and remanded in connection to the case. (Colombo Gazette)
