The letter, addressed to the British Tamils Forum, refers to the action taken by the Foreign Ministry earlier with regards to the conduct of a military officer at the Sri Lankan High Commission in the UK.
The forged letter has Samaraweera’s name and signature at the end and refers to him as the Foreign Minister although he is no more the Foreign Minister.
#Rajapaksa clan is showing off their ignorance yet again by forging my signature on a fake letter,on @MFA_SriLanka letterhead. These idiots are still not aware that I’m no longer the MFA. Reported to CID to bring the perpetrators to justice,” Samaraweera tweeted.
Responding to the allegation that the family of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa was behind the letter, Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa tweeted saying if they want to criticize Samaraweera they will do it directly.
“Hon. Min. @MangalaLK: If @PresRajapaksa, I or any other Rajapaksa want to criticize you, your policies or your government, we’ll do it directly. I’m glad that you reported it. Action must be taken against those responsible for spreading this kind of misinformation,” Namal Rajapaksa tweeted. (Colombo Gazette)
