SJB MPs return to Parliament following assurance by Speaker

The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) today attended Parliament proceedings following an assurance over their security given by Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena. SJB MPs had boycotted Parliament proceedings on Monday and yesterday after walking out in protest on Saturday. The SJB accused Government MPs of attempting to assault SJB MP Manusha Nanayakkara both on Friday and Saturday in Parliament. Human remains found washed ashore in Maruthamunai

Human remains have been found washed ashore in Maruthamunai. The remains, mostly skeletal, were found washed ashore on the beach this morning. The Police said that it is still not clear if the body was that of an individual who was murdered or committed suicide. A Police cordon has been placed around the area where the human remains were found. Further investigations are underway. (Colombo Gazette)

Gazette issued banning import of Glyphosate
