Police ready to vacate civilian property

The police say they are ready to vacate civilian homes in Jaffna if alternate land is given to them to shift the police stations. Jaffna district Police DIG Erik Perera said that police stations in Jaffna have been asked to identify land where the police stations can be shifted to if they are operating from civilian homes. He said that owners of civilian homes where police?stations?have been established, are paid a monthly rent.

UN Rapporteur notes uncertainty in Sri Lanka

Lightning strikes three people

Lightning struck three people in Niwithigala last evening killing one person, the police media unit said today. The police said that lightning had struck when the three people were working in a paddy field. The victim was identified as 34 year old Ranjith Kumara. The other two people are?receiving?treatment in hospital.
