Navy recovers 83.9kg Kerala Cannabis

The Navy recovered 83.9kg of Kerala Cannabis at the Keeramale beach area in Jaffna. According to the Navy, suspicious parcels were observed during a raid carried out by the Northern Naval Command at the Keeramale beach in Jaffna. Three suspects were lter arrested with parcels containing 83.9kg of Kerala Cannabis. The Kerala Cannabis and the three suspects were handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau for further action.

Karuwalagaspitiya Pradeshiya Sabha member arrested

A Karuwalagaspitiya Pradeshiya Sabha memberhas been arrested with heroin and remanded until the 22nd of August. Karuwalagaspitya Pradeshiya Sabha member Damayantha Vimukthi Ekanayake was arrested by the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB). The PNB seized 700 mg of heroin in his possession.

Slave Island salon manager killed, five arrested and remanded

The manager of a salon in Slave Island was clubbed to death and five suspects have been arrested and remanded over the incident. The Police said that the manager of the salon was murdered after five young men had made remarks at a woman he was with. The manager had got into an argument with the young men for passing remarks at the woman after which the men had clubbed him to death. The youth, aged between 17-24, had fled the scene but were arrested by the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) personnel.
