Leader of the House and United National Party (UNP) member Lakshman Kiriella told Parliament today that if anyone from the joint opposition looks to join the Government they will be accepted.
He was responding to a question raised in Parliament today with regards to the Ministerial position given to Sriyani Wijewickrama, a former joint opposition member.
The opposition also asked Kiriella and Speaker Karu Jayasuriya on the term of the unity Government.
Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said that the term of the unity Government ended last September.
He said that the agreement between the UNP and the United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA) has not been extended in writing.
Kiriella said that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will make a statement in Parliament with regards to the unity Government. (Colombo Gazette)
