IGP ordered to probe incident involving Uva Chief Minister

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara has been ordered to investigate claims that?the Chief Minister of the Uva Province Chamara Sampath Dassanayake had forced a principal from a school in Badulla to kneel before him.

President Maithripala Sirisena has instructed the IGP to investigate the incident and submit a report.

Meanwhile?Dassanayake stepped down as the provincial Minister of Education pending ongoing investigations against him.

The Chief Minister had reportedly summoned the principal of Tamil Girls? Maha Vidyalaya, Badulla to his residence and made her kneel on the floor because she had refused to enroll a student recommended by him.

The Chief Minister had rejected the allegations.?(Colombo Gazette)
