Marapane-led committee to decide on UNP members accused in scam

A committee headed by Foreign Minister Tilak Marapana has been appointed by the United National Party (UNP) to recommend action to be taken on any UNP member accused in the treasury bond scam, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said today.

The report by the Presidential commission which investigated the treasury bond issue, was made public this week.

The Presidential commission investigating the treasury bond scam recommended steps be taken against former Finance Minister and UNP Assistant Leader Ravi Karunanayake, former?Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran and?Perpetual Treasuries head?Arjun Aloysius over the scam.

Bangladesh to lend $50 million to Sri Lanka this week

Bangladesh will lend $50 million to Sri Lanka this week as part of Bangladesh’s efforts to support the island nation suffering from a foreign exchange crisis. Covid guidelines amended imposing more restrictions

The coronavirus health guidelines have been amended imposing more restrictions with effect from today. According to the amended guidelines issued by the Director General of Health Services Asela Gunawardena, only one person can leave the house from today, unless its for work or medical reasons.
