Harsha tells CMC to remove offensive hoarding in Rajagiriya

Deputy Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs Dr Harsha de Silva says he has called for the removal of an offensive hoarding in Rajagiriya.

The hoarding, giving publicity to a popular gymnasium and fitness center, has an image of a barrel and text next to it saying “This is no shape for a woman” giving the impression women should not look like a?barrel.

“I asked the Colombo MC Commissioner to remove this unapproved offensive hoarding. I would not tolerate this in Kotte,”?Dr Harsha de Silva tweeted.

The hoarding drew strong reactions from the public, particularly women. (Colombo Gazette)

One killed as illegal gem mine collapses in Niwitigala

One person was killed after an illegal gem mine collapsed in Niwitigala today, the Police said. The Police said the victim is a 34 year old father of two. The victim was identified as Prasanna Sirisena. Another person was injured in the incident and was admitted to hospital. The gem mine had been dug in the garden of a house and it was 35 feet deep.
