JVP WPC member Asoka Ranwala granted bail

Western Provincial Council Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna member Asoka Ranwala who was arrested earlier this month over allegations he had threatened the Sapusgaskanda Crimes Officer In Charge (OIC), was today granted bail.

The provincial council member had claimed he was arrested, for questioning the OIC over an assault on a youth in the area.

Law and Order Minister Sagala Ratnayake has ordered the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) to investigate the incident and submit a report to him.

The?acting OIC of Sapugaskanda was later transferred over the incident. (Colombo Gazette)
