Several SLFP members attend Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna rally

Several Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) members attended the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) election rally held in Kadawatha today.

SLFP Parliament members Keheliya Rambukwella, Bandula Gunawardena, Prasanna Ranatunga and Pavithra Wanniarachchi were among those who attended the rally.

SLFP member and United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) Gampaha District Parliamentarian Nimal Lanza, who resigned from his Deputy Minister post recently, also attended and spoke at the rally.

The SLFP had earlier warned that action will be taken against any SLFP member promoting another party for the Local Government election.

Thousands were seen at the rally which was attended by former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Speaking at the rally Rajapaksa said that the Local Government elections must be used as a referendum over moves to divide the country.

He also said that the Government is not stable as there is a “cold war” between President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. (Colombo Gazette)
