Lankapura Pradeshiya Sabha official murdered

An official attached to the Lankapura Pradeshiya Sabha has been murdered. The Police said that the Chief Administrative Officer of the Lankapura Pradeshiya Sabha was stabbed to death. The woman had been stabbed at her residence early this morning. The 42-year-old officer suffered serious injuries and died on admission to hospital. The woman’s husband was with her at the time of the attack. Investigations are underway to arrest the man who carried out the murder. (Colombo Gazette)

Speaker refuses to divert from Parliament agenda

Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena today refused to divert from the Parliament agenda and discuss the ongoing crisis in the country. Independent MP Wimal Weerawansa questioned the failure of the Parliament to focus on the fuel issue today instead of discussing others matters. Probe sought on 9th June power interruption

The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has called for an investigation into the 9th June power interruption. Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said that he had received a letter this morning from the PUCSL calling for an inquiry in to the power interruption on 9th June caused by union action launched by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB).
