Former Deputy Minister Lanza joins the joint opposition

United People?s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) Gampaha District Parliamentarian and former Deputy Minister Nimal Lanza today joined the joint opposition.

Lanza resigned from his post as the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs last week.

Lanza had said that he had resigned over several reasons.

The Deputy Minister extended support to President Maithripala Sirisena in 2015.

However as of late he has been critical of the Government and also sought to unite former President Mahinda Rajapaksa with President Sirisena.?(Colombo Gazette)

Speaker informs President on result of vote

Speaker Karu Jayasuriya has informed President Maithripala Sirisena on the outcome of the vote of confidence on Ranil Wickremesinghe to function as the Prime Minister. The vote of confidence on Wickremesinghe was passed with 117 votes.
