National People?s Party files petition against CMC polls

The National People?s Party filed a petition before the Supreme Court today against holding Local Government (LG) elections for the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC). Body of British national found in Maligawatta area

Investigations have been launched into the death of a British national whose body was found in the Maligawatta area today. The Police said that the 38-year-old British national was found dead at Araliya Uyana in Maligawatta. The body was found with wounds caused by a sharp object. According to reports, the?British national had arrived in Sri Lanka in November and was scheduled to leave the country this week but he had extended his visa until January 25. (Colombo Gazette)
